There are several reasons why everyone should have a few ounces of sauerkraut juice a day.
I know what some of you are thinking, sauerkraut juice, it’s sour and gross YUCK! But please hear me out after all you are eating for two.
Let me shed some light on the subject of the benefits of consuming sauerkraut juice.
Raw fermented sauerkraut is loaded with probiotics and many other health benefits.
From the research that I have done I’ve discovered that the juice is also very beneficial in aiding women that are suffering from morning sickness. I heard that a few ounces several times throughout the day may relieve the queasiness so many women suffer from during their pregnancy. I can’t think of a better way to relieve stomach upset, because if the kraut is naturally fermented it contains enzymes that actually soothe the lining of the stomach.
Mind you the juice has to be from naturally fermented cabbage. It should contain no vinegar, and it needs to be raw. By that I mean not processed or canned. If it is canned it has been heated therefore destroying the essential enzymes.
A lot of the commercial sauerkraut out there is pickled with vinegar and it’s not fermented in a way to produce these vital enzymes.
Vitamin U in cabbage juice has been known to have healing properties.
Between 1948 – 1950, Dr. Garnett Cheney, professor of medicine at Stanford Medical School, did some studies and found that the leaves of green cabbage contain healing enzymes. His hypothesis was that fresh raw sauerkraut juice may significantly increase the rate of healing in patients suffering with acid reflex, stomach pain, skin ulcers, and ulcers in the digestive tract. It may also control diabetes, and strengthen the immune system.
Cabbage also contains Vitamin C which is known as an anti inflammatory and is found in abundance in the intestines. There is also glutamine which is an amino acid also found in the intestines. There are also powerful antioxidants that assist the liver in the detoxification process.
Some of my pregnant customers say that they feel better by drinking sauerkraut juice daily. I also found out that a cup of sauerkraut contains 2 mg of iron.
How many women get anemic during pregnancy? The Dr. will quite often prescribe iron to pregnant women which can cause constipation, only to have to take something for that as well. At least with sauerkraut juice it’s real food that your body recognizes it as food and knows how to assimilate it.
